LeMay New AFF Chair

At its Management Board meeting on January 10, the Alliance for Food and Farming (AFF) elected Ian LeMay, Incoming President of the California Table Grape Commission, as its new Chair.  The Board also recognized Kate Tynan, Senior Vice President of the Northwest Horticultural Council, for her three-year tenure as AFF Board Chair.

Prior to joining the California Table Grape Commission this month, LeMay was President of the California Fresh Fruit Association.

“I take over as AFF Chair at a pivotal time,” LeMay says.  “Under Kate’s leadership, we have seen the AFF achieve much success through its Safe Fruits and Veggies campaign, the expansion of our network of influencers and, most importantly, keeping the organization moving forward during the pandemic years. However, with pesticide residues remaining the number one produce safety concern, there is still much more work to do to advance the objectives and mission of the organization,” he says.

As immediate past chair, Tynan will continue to serve on the AFF’s Executive Committee.

In a previous action, the Board also appointed Cory Lunde, Assistant Vice President, Public Affairs, for Western Growers Association, as its Communications Chair and to serve on the organization’s Executive Committee.

Lunde has been with Western Growers for more than 15 years and is responsible for overseeing all public affairs activities which includes internal and external communications, member communications, media relations, social media and strategic initiatives.

“Our leadership team makes the AFF better every day with their ideas, perspectives and thoughtful approach,” says Teresa Thorne, AFF Executive Director.  “The organization is in a great leadership position to handle challenges that come our way and move forward toward continued success.”
