RDs, Health and Nutrition Writers and Bloggers Join AFF’s Third “Facts, Not Fears” Produce Safety Tour

The Alliance for Food and Farming (AFF), in conjunction with Markon Cooperative, hosted its third “Facts, Not Fears” Produce Safety Media Tour for registered dietitians, health and nutrition writers and bloggers on August 19, 20 and 21 in the Salinas Valley. Tour participants visited fruit and vegetable fields as well as engaged with farmers, chefs and scientists with expertise in nutrition and food safety during the three-day event.

AFF Launches New Safefruitsandveggies.com Website

The Alliance for Food and Farming (AFF) has launched an updated safefruitsandveggies.com website with new content and to improve visitors’ experiences on the increasingly popular site.

“The safefruitsandveggies.com website now receives tens of thousands of visitors each year,” says Teresa Thorne, AFF Executive Director.  “We want to continue to improve the site, retain our visitors and attract new users.  The newly formatted site will help us to do that.”

Alliance for Food and Farming: Studies Show “Dirty Dozen” Recommendations Unsupportable, Verify Produce Safety

(Watsonville, CA) Since 1995, an activist group has released a so-called “dirty dozen” produce list.  However, peer reviewed studies show this list’s recommendations are not scientifically supportable while other studies show it may negatively impact consumers since it discourages purchasing of any produce – organic or conventional.
