At its annual meeting held this month, the Alliance for Food and Farming Management Board approved 2019 projects that will help advance the organization’s objective of providing credible, science based information to consumers so that facts, not fears, can guide their produce shopping choices.
The Alliance for Food and Farming (AFF), in conjunction with Markon Cooperative, hosted its second “Facts Not Fear” Produce Safety Media Tour for registered dietitians, health and nutrition writers and bloggers on August 27, 28 and 29 in the Salinas Valley. Tour participants visited fruit and vegetable fields and processing facilities as well as engaged with farmers, chefs and scientists with expertise in nutrition and food safety during the three-day event.

Markon President Tim York was appointed as Chair of the Alliance for Food and Farming (AFF) during the organization’s annual Management Board meeting on January 30. York replaces Chris Zanobini, Executive Director of the California Pear Advisory Board, who is stepping down after two years of service as Chair. Zanobini will remain on the AFF’s Executive Committee.

AFF Board Appoints Markon’s Tim York As Chair
